After two weeks of events and festivities to mark the 50th anniversary of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, today was the sporting highlight. In perfect running weather, the more than 58,000 registered participants set off on their 42.195 kilometres through Berlin at 9.15 am.
Milkesa Mengesha (ETH) was the first to sprint across the finish line in 2:03:17 hours in the shadow of the Brandenburg Gate. Tigist Ketema (ETH) won the women's race in 2:16:42 hours. (times unofficial)
