Oceanian record-holders Jess Hull and Stewart McSweyn are part of a 14-strong Australian team named for the World Athletics Road Running Championships Riga 23 on 1 October.

Hull and McSweyn teamed up to take bronze in the mixed relay at the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst earlier this year, then went on to compete at the World Championships in Budapest. Their appearance in Riga will be their third participation in a global championships this year.

Hull already holds the continental records for the track mile (4:15.34) and 3000m (8:31.81), and she will be eyeing the Oceanian record for the road mile (4:32) when she competes in that discipline in Riga. Similarly, McSweyn – who holds the area 3000m record (7:28.02) – could potentially take aim at Nick Willis’ 3:56.57, the fastest road mile ever by an athlete from Oceania.

Isobel Batt-Doyle, who also represented Australia in Bathurst and Budapest, is also named on the team, this time in the half marathon.
