The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is proud to announce a crucial extension to key deadlines, providing athletes with additional time to finalize their participation in the 2025 event. The deadlines for both the partial payment plan and the submission of the Comrades Relief Fund (CRF) supporting documents have been extended to Friday, 14 March 2025.

This extension aims to alleviate potential financial pressures and logistical challenges faced by athletes, ensuring broader participation in The Ultimate Human Race.

“We recognize that unforeseen circumstances can impact our athletes’ ability to meet initial deadlines,” stated Mqondisi Ngcobo, Chairperson of the CMA. “Extending these deadlines demonstrates our commitment to inclusivity and our desire to support every runner who aspires to participate in the Comrades Marathon. We want to provide the necessary flexibility to allow all dedicated athletes the opportunity to run.”

Athletes who opted for the 50% partial payment plan now have until 16h30 on Friday, 14 March 2025, to pay the remaining 50% balance of their entry fee. Failure to complete the full payment will result in the forfeiture of the initial payment and the deactivation of their entry.

The Comrades Relief Fund (CRF) provides crucial financial assistance to qualifying athletes, offering a 50% reduction in their entry fee. To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens, earn less than R30,000 per year, or be unemployed.

Applicants must submit the following by Friday, 14 March 2025:

Completed documents must be scanned and emailed to entries@comrades.com  or hand-delivered to the Comrades Marathon Office at 18 Comrades Road, Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg, 3201.

“The Comrades Marathon is more than a race; it is a symbol of resilience and unity,” said Alain Dalais, General Manager of the CMA. “By extending these deadlines, we are ensuring that more athletes can experience the unique camaraderie and sense of accomplishment that this event offers.”

The CMA strongly encourages all athletes to take advantage of this extended deadline to finalize their payments and complete their CRF applications.
